Sources say Steve Wojciechowski is the coach of the Jazz G League team

According to sources, Steve Wojciechowski, the former head coach of Marquette, is ready to take on a new challenge as the head coach of the Salt Lake City Stars, the Utah Jazz’s G League club.

Since leaving Marquette in 2021, Wojciechowski has made his home in the Salt Lake City region, and he is eager to transition to the world of professional coaching. He joins a youthful, talented team with three first-round picks in the upcoming NBA Draft and a roster full of young players.

Wojciechowski has been connected with the Jazz organization for the previous two years, especially during the 2021–22 season. His long-standing friendship with former Jazz coach Quinn Snyder made this link possible. Wojciechowski had the chance to go to a number of Jazz practices and form a relationship with coach Will Hardy.

Wojciechowski has decided to join the G League, following in the footsteps of several college coaches who have transitioned to the NBA. Organizations in this developmental league put player development and learning ahead of quick on-court success.

Wojciechowski had a respectable 128-95 (.574) record over his seven seasons at Marquette. During his coaching career, his teams made two trips to the NCAA Tournament and one to the NIT. After leaving Marquette, Wojciechowski worked as an assistant coach for USA Basketball’s 2022 AmeriCup team.

Wojciechowski, a renowned former athlete, won awards as the National Defensive Athlete of the Year and an All-American while playing for Duke. After that, he worked as an assistant for famed Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski for 15 seasons.
